The North Carolina Tar Heels are running out of time to turn it's season around. Currently sitting at 8-6 the Tar Heels could be heading down a path of missing the NCAA Tournament for the second time in three seasons. The Tar Heels only have one win currently vs a ranked opponent, UCLA( #15 in the AP poll and #18 in the coaches poll). Carolina also has a quality win vs Dayton who has recieved top 25 votes. The problem for Carolina is that they don't have many opportunities left for quality wins in conference play. Currently the only two games UNC has vs ranked opponents is the two game with it's arch rival Duke.
According to ESPN's bracketologist Joe Lunardi, Carolina currently is one of the last four teams that would make the NCAA Tournament. The ACC is currently projected to only be a 5 bid league, the lowest of the power four conferences. To compare the SEC is projected to have 12 teams, The Big 10 projected to have 11 teams, and the Big 12 is projected to have 8 teams. Being one of the last four teams in is not the standard in Chapel Hill. The only way the Tar Heels can change the temperature around the program is if it can string together a run of wins starting tomorrow vs Notre Dame.
