After a magical run a season ago leading all the way to the final four, Kevin Keatts addressed this years team, expectations, culture & identity while in Charlotte. The biggest question has been the resurgence of the program, sustainability and next man mentality. Finishing the 2023-24 campaign 26-15, what is next for Coach Keatts and NC State?
"I pride myself in not changing; We've got 8 new dudes, but they've done a good job at pushing our culture with the other guys. Teach the other guys how to compete and play hard"
Coach Keatts was referring to losing key pieces, including the big man in the middle and generational talent D.J. Burns who has been competing most recently overseas in the Korean Basketball League Goyang Sono Skygunners.
DJ Burns has drawn comparisons to former NBA All Star Z-bo, also known as Zach Randolph.
Addressing the narrative on living up to the standard Coach Keatts stated,
"We've talked about competiting everyday, everything we do has a consequence; We've got to build a winning culture; talked about not taking practicies off, we dont have the ability to waste any practices"
NC State opens the season November 4th at 7:00 PM against the SC Upstate Spartans
