The 2024-25 NC State Wolfpack reloaded through the transfer portal with the addition of several key prospects that bring experience, grit and tenacity on both ends of the ball, something Coach Kevin Keatts attributed will be a difference breaker on this years team.
After losing DJ Burns, DJ Horne, and Casey Morsell which accounted for nearly 40 points per game, Coach Keatts went deep into the portal, replenishing the offensive power that helped the Wolfpack make it’s run to the final four a season ago.
The Transfers
-Dontrez Styles (former Tar Heel and Hoya) brings size on the perimeter, athleticism, and wingspan which will help with the identity and defensive mindset under Keatts.
-Brandon Huntley-Hatfield & Mike James (Louisville) offer the Wolfpack experience, versatility, grit, and more importantly are coachable.
The X-Factor
Marcus Hill, a senior guard that offers experience, size and a scoring threat from all 3 phases on the offensive end with his ability to shoot, attack off the dribble and create his own shot, averaged 20.5 points per game a season ago.
Don’t forget about 4-star prospect Paul McNeill who will also bring size, shooting, and physicality, attributes that are brought to the forefront under a Kevin Keatts system.
While in Charlotte, Kevin Keatts attributed his assistant coaches going into the transfer portal to gain commitments from talent that will help fill the void lost from last years final four team.
NC State’s ability to relive the 2024 final four run will rely heavy on the addition of prospects and with a target larger than ever on the Wolfpacks back going from the hunter to the hunted.
