The NC State men’s basketball team broke out the second half on a 10-0 run versus Coastal Carolina to help extend a comfortable lead, eventually wining 82-70, extending themselves to 3-0 on the year. Head coach Kevin Keatts reiterated his teams willingness to keep their foot on the pedal in their previous two games, calling it learning experiences. His sentiment on rather having a close game than a blowout is a common them amongst coaches in the ACC, with Duke’s women head basketball coach singing the same tune on Tuesdays presser.

Despite Coastal Carolina making it a two point game at intermission, the Wolfpack were able to get key contributions from freshman combo guard Trey Parker, 13 points off the pine, and star Jayden Taylor 22 points which were a game high.

Changing in tempo

Michael O’Connell tacking on two early fouls in the first half forced the Wolfpack to orchestrate their gameplan without their primary ball handler. Nevertheless, this forced other guys to get involved defensively, forcing 4 steals, 4 blocks, and 19 turnovers. Despite cold shooting from downtown (0-10), the Pack were able to allow the defense to dictate pace and flow in their 3rd win of the season.

Next up for the Pack, a home matchup with Colgate Monday night at 7pm.
