Lady Devils Make Statement Amid 3 Game Road Trip at SMU

The 14th ranked Duke Blue Devils made a loud statement that the cohesion on defensive is something to be wreckoning with, allowing just 4 points in the second quarter to the Mustangs, including just 25 points over the final 3 periods.


Duke freshman Toby Fournier continued her dominance in the paint area scoring 24 points on 9-15 shooting. Fournier also tallied 7 boards in 25 minutes of action.

The floor generals consisting of Vanessa De Jesus, Taina Mair, and Jadyn Donovan contributed 10 assist to just a single turnover (10:1), which something head coach Kara Lawson touched on this week emphasizing ball security.

Ashlon Jackson and Taina Mair were the two other Blue Devils to reach double digit figures with 17, and 11 respectively.


On the evening the Blue Devils shot 30-66 from the field (45.5%) allowing 16-51 from the Mustangs (31.4%).

 

The Equalizer

The Mustangs scored 8 total field goals in the first quarter. Coach Kara Lawson challenged her team after the first period and the Blue Devils respond giving up just 8 field goals over the duration of the game.
