Duke basketball announced this week they are teaming up with the Pediatric Cancer Research Foundation (PCRF) in part of it's 3rd annual "Dribble over Cancer" initiative being held on Saturday October 5th.
The goal of the campaign is to raise funding alongside Hall of Famer Dick Vitale with his cancer research campaign. As you know, Dick Vitale himself was diagnosed with cancer several years ago, and has been a advocate for funding in hopes of finding cures for cancer.
The event will feature mens and women's basketball open practices, and a barbecue luncheon with the teams.
Coach Jon Scheyer stated on the event
"Every year, Marcelle and I look forward to the Dribble for Victory Over Cancer event," said Duke men's basketball head coach Jon Scheyer. "It's a special moment where our community and basketball program come together with incredible enthusiasm to support groundbreaking efforts of the V Foundation, Duke Children's, and the Pediatric Cancer Research Foundation in the fight to end childhood cancer. It's truly inspiring to see such collective commitment towards a future free from this disease."
Nationally this is the 17th year that the Pediatric Cancer event has raised funding, which has totaled over $2.5 million.
