NC State men's basketball team defeated 4x running Patriot League Champion Colgate 72-49 Monday night at the Lenovo Center to begin their season 4-0. The Raiders who had an very early lead could not handle the defensive full court pressure of the Wolfpack, and inability to get transition was costly. Against Syracuse, Colgate was able to contribute 22 points, but in Raleigh that narrative was a forgone conclusion tallying 6 for the night.
On the night, the Raiders lost the rock 16 times, including just 6 second chance points.
The Wolfpack had three players in double figures which included a game high 19 points from Ben Middlebrooks, who the Raiders had no answer for on the interior.
Floor general Marcus Hill added 17 points on 6-10 shooting with 5 boards.
Coach Kevin Keatts attributed his teams performance to a solid week of practice and cited the teams chemistry getting stronger. Moreover Keatts reiterated the point of Colgate winning their league 4 years in a row, and appearing in the last 5 NCAA tournaments.
Next up for the Pack is a home contest with William & Mary before a tough slate of matchups during Thanksgiving break.
